The X-35 turbine has 17.5m blades, Endurance used blade extenders with the standard X Series blades.

These blade extenders use 2.3m long high tensile rods to connect the blades to the hub.

There have been several instances of bolt failure which, left unchecked would have resulted in catastrophic blade loss.
